What is SeniorLearning?
SeniorLearnig is a project which is financed by the European Commission under the GRUNDTVIG Lifelong Learning Programme. (To go to the Lifelong Learning website, simply click on the logo opposite and you will be directed straight there).
The objective of the SeniorLearnig project is to design a user-centred e-learning system which offers online courses for enabling users to learn how to use the internet and its services. The proposed SeniorLearnig system is designed specifically to be targeted at senior citizens (55+).
It aims to immerse them in the practical use of the internet, thus involving them in the Information Society and enabling them to enjoy its many benefits.
What will this project produce?
This project will deliver such worthwhile results as research into the needs of senior citizens in terms of the Information Society, best practice in teaching senior citizens in the practical use of the Internet, as well as practical e-learning courses (which will be designed as self-learning tools or trainer support material) which will enable senior citizens to learn how to use the internet in a useful, practical and relevant manner, such as by learning to shop via the internet (e-commerce), to carry out on-line banking (e-banking), to form virtual learning groups or learning communities etc.
The overall impact of this project will be to make sure that senior citizens are not left out of the Information Society and are fully empowered to enjoy its benefits, which will contribute to improving their quality of life.
